I hope you all had a wonderful Lunar New Year break, enjoying quality time with family and friends, time to rest, relax, and read. I always appreciate the slower pace of a break, the extra time I get to enjoy with my family, and lots of uninterrupted reading time. Also during this past break as you can see in the picture collage below, I came across and enjoyed some wonderful books - some written for children, some for young adults, some for grown ups; most I enjoyed reading in print, one in the form of an audiobook. Since I started to keep track of and share my reading also through Instagram (if you would like to explore and/or follow my account, click on this link), I love being reminded of when and where I read a particular book, who might have been with me at the time. It has been a wonderful week, with many beautiful new memories made - and I hope you feel the same way about your past week too.
Literacy Week 2019 From March 4-8, we will celebrate our annual literacy week. Our theme this year is Read All About It! HKA Goes Under Cover! Our focus is all around mysteries, news, headlines and literally where we might go under cover to read. We invite our entire community to contribute to our displays by bringing in their own news stories and photos of being caught reading. For more information, kindly check the email we shared before the break. As important dates, you might want to add to your calendar: Tuesday, March 5 Book Fair (UG) Wednesday, March 6 Book Character Day Friday, March 7 Pajama Day - on this day our libraries will also host a hot cocoa & cookie event from 3:15-7:30pm. | Read-a-thon 2019 The Friday before Lunar New Year break we launched our annual read-a-thon in support of Bring Me a Book Hong Kong. The necessary forms with details on how to participate were shared electronically and in hard copies before the break - feel free to contact me should you still have questions. We are grateful for your support of your child's participation. We look forward to seeing you there! |
