Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!
It's been an exciting and busy first week in the library with many students coming to the library in the morning before school and all of our UP students also visiting with their classes for the first time this year. Our happy readers were really missed and it was so good seeing students again exploring the shelves, recommending books to each other, reading alone or with a friend, and checking out books to take home.
Our first class visits are always dedicated to introductions, to thinking and talking about who we are as readers and to revisit the set-up and organisation of our library. Our students in grades 4 and 5 started working on their shelfies. Through their shelfie, our students will share their story, who they are as a reader. In preparing for this, they pulled together five books that represent what they enjoy as readers to then have their picture taken. It was wonderful seeing how enthusiastic and how independent our students were during this task. I look forward to continuing our work on shelfies next week and to hear from students why they selected the individual books. I can share already now that there is a wonderful variety of books represented and promise to post some of our students' shelfies and comments on the blog by the end of next week.
In case you haven't had a chance yet to stop by our library, I am including again our virtual tour below, even though our shelves look slightly different at the end of our first week, with so many books having been already checked out :)
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!
