"It's all happening at the zoo, I do believe, I do believe it's true" K students are working diligently on their animal sculptures which will be on display for the Arts Festival. SAVE THE DATE May 7-11 G5 students were real RISK-TAKERS in art class this week, creating masks with plaster casting. Students learnt about different color relationships and practiced mixing paint to create a colorful works of art. Students mixed two opposite colors to fill in geometric shapes and mixed analogous colors to create a painting with organic shapes. Grade four students have been diligent in creating a symbolic representation of water with textiles and recycled plastics. In this art unit students used their knowledge of water and the water cycle that they learnt in the Unit of Inquiry, Sharing the Planet. Grade two students had open studios and free choice to explore different materials in visual arts classes in February. In conjunction with the collaborative Unit of Inquiry, How We Express Ourselves, students explored how people can express their emotions through different art forms. Kindergarten students created transportation animations in IT class in collaboration with their Unit of Inquiry, How We Organize Ourselves.
In Art Class Students worked from a plan in their sketchbooks to create a clay model of a form of transportation. Students used paper cutouts to create backgrounds. Scroll down to watch the full animations. G5 Students have been working on drawing in one-point perspective. Students will be collecting pictures from magazines and newspapers with show perspective this week for homework. These websites may be useful if you want to practice your perspective drawing.

Students in G2 classes have looked at several different POP artists and created artwork in response. Artists G2 have responded to this year are Andy Warhol, Jasper Johns, Robert Rauschenberg, and Claes Oldenburg. |
