Grade one students have been making discoveries about the different kinds of line and worked together to create fantastically large artworks using only lines.

Student in PK1 began the year experimenting with making different kinds of marks on paper. During the first week students were given three primary colors of finger paint and used their hands. The second week, students used primary colors of tempera paint and a brush. Students in grade three are studying the different causes of pollution and how they effect our environment in the unit of inquiry, Sharing the Planet. In art class, students are specifically inquiring into which materials they think can be recycled into art. This week students watch this short video to learn more about the problem. Primary school arts students at HKA are on to a thoughtful and colorful start to the year. ![]() PYP arts students at Hong Kong Academy will focus on responding to and creating great works of art in class each week. Some of the media students create with this year include paint, paper, printing, textiles, and clay. Students will use Visual Thinking Strategies to respond to the art work of other artists, and aim to exhibit attributes of the PYP the Learner Profiles and Attitudes, while gaining a deeper understanding of the Elements of Art.
